Summer Fun. Traverse City.
Summer Fun. Traverse City.
We're happy to announce that registration for the Traverse City Summer Softball Series of tournaments is open! Our tournaments are designed for teams that are looking for a fun, quality tournament in a city where there is a LOT to do in the late spring and summer. Many families combine a weekend of tournament competition with a mini-vacation in Traverse City. 2021 marks the 16th year that the Traverse City Waves have hosted tournaments for teams from around Michigan, the Midwest and Canada. We have several surprises in store for 2021 that we think you'll like! Please visit our tournament pages to read about past tournaments and to register your team to play in 2021.
2021 Summer Series
It was GREAT to see lots of new faces along with many familiar softball friends at the 2020 Futures Challenge! Visit the Futures Challenge page to see which teams were crowned as champions and to look at the All-Tournament Team.
The Waves is an organization formed in 2004 and based in Traverse City, and provides the opportunity for young players to learn and enjoy the game of softball. Former Waves players have had successful high school sports and academic careers...played softball in college...won national championships in rowing...earned all-area, all-region, and all-state honors in softball and other sports...made successful transitions into college, graduated from college, established professional careers...and more! The Waves organization has funded over $11,000 in college scholarships and continues to emphasize providing opportunities for girls to excel athletically and academically while having fun playing softball.
The Waves hosted the fifteenth Traverse City Softball Spectacular in 2020. Because of overwhelmingly positive feedback from our visiting teams, we added the Northern Classic tournament in 2008 to allow more teams the opportunity to combine a mini-vacation in the Traverse City area with a first class, enjoyable tournament. The Cherry Capital Showdown was added to the tournament schedule a few years ago and has quickly become a favorite among teams from throughout the state. In 2016, the Spring Splash was added to the series, an early-season tournament for younger teams. The three-year-old Bayside Bash offers a chance to experience the National Cherry Festival along with playing in a fun, quality tournament. Finally, 2016 also saw the start of the Futures Challenge, a low-key one day tune-up tournament for teams that have just selected their squads for next summer season. We would love to have your team participate in our tournaments. Please send a note if you're interested in bringing your team to Traverse City.
